I feel genuinely lucky to do what I do. There’s something special about seeing a patient's smile and confidence grow throughout their time in orthodontic treatment. Helping people feel good about themselves through better oral health and a smile they’re proud of is what gets me excited to come to work every day.
Orthodontic treatment is all about delayed gratification. It's satisfying to work toward a goal together with a patient and their family and then seeing that goal become a reality. It never gets old.
I had braces as a kid, which gave me a front-row seat to what the experience is like from the patient’s perspective. I saw firsthand how orthodontic treatment can change the life of a young person, not just their teeth, but their confidence. That experience has always shaped how I approach care. I know what it feels like to sit in that chair, and I want every visit to be one you actually look forward to.
Education and Training
I was born and raised in Billings. After graduating from Billings Senior High I attended both MSU-Bozeman and UM-Missoula before being accepted to to the University of the Pacific Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco, CA (DDS). After dental school I headed to the Midwest where I specialized in orthodontics at a 30-month residency program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Lincoln, NE.
After years living in Bozeman, Missoula, San Francisco, and Lincoln, we made the decision to head back home to Billings to plant roots and raise our family here. There’s no place we’d rather be.
Committed to Excellence
I’m proud to be a board-certified orthodontist through the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO), a distinction that reflects my commitment to the highest clinical standards in our specialty. I’m also an active member of:
- American Dental Association
- American Association of Orthodontists
- American Board of Orthodontics
I stay actively involved in continuing education and study clubs focused on the latest technology, from advanced Invisalign® techniques for adults and kids as young as age seven, to digital workflows that make treatment more precise and your experience in our office smoother. I genuinely enjoy learning, and my patients benefit from it directly.
Life Outside the Office
My wife Charissa is a familiar face here at Bighorn Orthodontics, as she runs our front office and keeps everything (and everyone) running smoothly. Together we have two kids, so I’m very much living the busy family life that so many of our patients know well.
You might also notice a fluffy face greeting you when you walk in. That’s Poppy, our Cavapoo. She’s hypoallergenic, non-shedding, and an absolute hit with patients. She takes her unofficial role as office mascot very seriously.
When I’m not at the office, you’ll find me cooking, hiking, skiing, golfing, fly fishing, or traveling with the family. Montana is an incredible place to live, and we take full advantage of it.
